Tutorial: Open Braid Stitch Using A Long Knitting Loom!

Hello Loomers!

If you are among the lucky ones who are still enjoying the Summer holidays, have you remembered to fit your knitting looms and yarn in your suitcase?

If yes, I have something really nice for you. The Open Braid stitch. This stitch looks a bit difficult but after the third or fourth row you will see for yourself that it's pretty easy to do.

I have loom knitted an envelope bag using the open braid stitch, but you can also loom knit a shrug, a cover pillow using a lining in a contrast colour, a baby blanket and whatever you like!

Here is my bag!

And here you can see how the open braid stitch looks like.

Get your knitting looms, choose your favourite yarn and let's learn loom knitting the new stitch!
Below are the steps for one row.

First we start by casting on using the anchor yarn.
Then we follow the steps indicated above. We start knitting from peg A1 (blue yarn) to peg B4 and we wrap every other peg on both rows of pegs except for B10, B11 and B12 that they would be wrapped consecutive. We turn back with the red yarn wrapping the rest pegs and we also wrap consecutive B3, B2 and B1. We secure our yarn to the external peg and we hook over so every peg has one loop.

This is the Open Braid Stitch !

I look forward to seeing photos of your projects!

Bye, bye...
